"WhiskyIl whisky, erroneamente definito wisky dalla sua antica denominazione, è uno dei distillati più nobili e antichi del mondo.
Con un minimo di affinamento in botte di legno di almeno 3 anni, il whisky è un distillato di cereali di origine contesa tra Scozia, Irlanda e, oggi, tanti altri paesi del mondo compresi l’India anche se, la denominazione più famosa e pregiata resta Scotch Whisky.
Gli ingredienti fondamentali sono l’acqua sorgiva e i cereali tra cui: orzo maltato (nell’antica ed originale ricetta del Single Malt Scotch Whisky), ma anche grano, segale e mais nelle versioni Blended Whisky, Bourbon Whisky e Tennessee Whisky.
Come il vino, anche il whisky in base all’invecchiamento, produttore e tecniche di produzione assume un valore inaspettato e viene considerato whisky pregiato e whisky da collezione.
Il prezzo dei whisky pregiati dipende da diversi fattori tra cui soprattutto il tempo di invecchiamento e le condizioni di mantenimento nel tempo della bottiglia, inoltre, anche whisky considerati generalmente commerciali possono riservare sorprese: non è raro, infatti, trovare Ballantine’s Whisky pregiato, Bucana Whisky pregiato oppure Oban Whysky Pregiati che, già di per sé, si eleva ad un livello commerciale significativamente più alto rispetto ai whisky più conosciuti.
